The backstory:
I remember looking forward to summer vacation—school being out, hot summer days in the public pool, finding cool retreats in the theaters and malls, biking, hiking and roller skating. But the most vivid memories are those family vacations with Momma, Daddy and my 3 siblings as we traveled in our Microbus along the north bound freeway into pine country. The cooler climate at high elevation, fresh scent of the evergreen trees, and the sight of the final destination near the bubbling steam was what summer was all about. Truly a summer holiday.
